Carolyn Pearson Carter
I am a clinical psychologists who specializes in treating eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, emotional eating, compulsive exercise, and other weight, body, and food concerns. I also work with adults who have other concerns, like anxiety, perfectionism, mood concerns, relationship problems, or general stress.
My goal in therapy is to help you build a life worth living. While I am primarily a skills-based therapist, meaning we will work together to practice skills that have been shown by research to effectively reduce your concerns and enhance your quality of life, I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. We will get to know one another, develop your goals collaboratively, and begin creating an individualized plan to help you get to where you want and need to be. I believe in integrating care with other providers and working closely with physicians, dieticians, psychiatrists, and anyone else who we deem as important in your recovery. My goal is to get you out of therapy and back to living your life fully! While I use evidence-based practices in therapy, I also prioritize creating an accepting, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment for my clients. Sessions with me include direct feedback, humor, (including laughing at ourselves!) and real time skills practice. For more information: www.carterpsychology.com Evidence-Based Practices I Use:
